Jess has always loved Old, Historic buildings. When she bought her first home 25 years ago, she wasn't able to find a contractor who was willing or able to repair her plaster walls or fix the other problems unique to a 100 year old home. So she learned how to do things herself and discovered her passion for design and restoration.

Dylan is a sort of mad scientist/genius, when it comes to all things building and structure. Whether he's timber-framing a one-of-a-kind cabin, building a unique piece of furniture from salvaged supplies, or welding together a custom railing for a client's home, he has a passion for finding brilliant solutions and executing them with precision.

Dylan and Jess knew that together, they could offer an excellent service at competitive pricing—without sacrificing quality of work. They have over 15 years experience taking on the unique, intricate, challenging jobs that the big guys often prefer not to take. They started in Cache Valley, Utah, but have since expanded their work to the historic homes in Salt Lake City, and also south in St. George, Utah.

Proper Space is not the typical construction company. We are general contracting perfectionists with a great passion for our work. Every job we do--from the smallest remodel, to a major renovation--is done PROPERLY.

Our Company Values:

  • Quality craftsmanship and design that will stand the test of time.

  • Meticulous work. Imperfect paint lines and lazy finish work is simply unacceptable.

  • Attention and Oversight. We are very attentive to our clients, maintaining a high level of involvement and oversight, throughout the entire project.

  • Resto-renovation. Older homes possess history, uniqueness and character- things that cannot be replicated in a new builds. We work with our clients to update and re-imagine their existing homes in order to create truly personalized spaces, which perfectly meets their needs.

  • Value. Although construction isn't cheap, we believe that with thoughtful planning and efficient execution, you can achieve your remodel goals within a budget.

  • Conservation. There is a shameful amount of waste within the construction industry. We are diligent about reclaiming and repurposing materials whenever we're able. If it can go to ReStore instead of the dump, we go that extra mile. We also source eco-friendly products and materials wherever available.
